Papers relate to Ranger's estate focusing on the claim made by his sister, Edith Ranger, contesting the will. A false will was produced by the attorney, Charles Wexler. Papers include documents concerning Wexler's trial and Ranger's forged will; non-legal financial papers as well as legal papers regarding settlement of Ranger's estate; legal papers, including Rangers's will, and dispositions from many of Ranger's friends including Julian Alden Weir. In addition, an appraisal of the contents of Ranger's studio done by William MacBeth; letters received by Charles Henry Philips while settling Ranger's estate; investigator's reports; and news clippings.
